I had a tib-fib at the ankle back in 2013. Screwed back together by university of Florida sports orthopedic doctor. I was back flying a navy plane in 3 months.
If it was the right ankle I imagine it was tough to mash the accelerator and brake pedals for a while.
I learned to drive left footed. The only time I’ve been specifically thankful for an automatic. Especially because the Navy doc in Jacksonville told me to go back to Gainesville for followups…
Motocross racers usually have an insane return time as well for screws and plates, but they are a different breed
You’ll see someone get hurt mid season, have surgery and be back with 2-3 months like you said
Mentioned at the dinner that the medical personnel are saying he’ll be back before the end of the season
But would it be worth it to burn the medical redshirt?
Hmm, I had just assumed Navy jets were automatics. But glad you could drive them left footed!
The jets have a set up like a British car. Clutch is actually on the right
Yes he will be out of shape and wouldn’t get much playing time anyway I don’t think he plays this year unless we have more injuries and he is needed
Yeah but this was the P-3, you have to pedal pretty hard to keep it going.
That sounds really tiring right after having a cast taken off
Rudders… haha
I blame Section102
This is another great article. McFarland is going to have some tough times ahead, but he’s part of an exceptional family here. Great things are still ahead for him here.
Love the shoe and great to see him using a walker. If he is able to put some weight on it the healing process is already starting.
