Wait until UH threatens to take a playoff spot or bye from one of the big name schools.
There likely will not be multi-year deals as they do not know how good the player will be. There is a risk he is not a good QB at the college level, or injured or simply a different player earns the starting job.
I imagine it will not be long before someone pays a ton of money for a player and then gets upset when the the coach does not play that person.
if whoever didnt put that in the contract, its their fault. i doubt there will be many things like that as with NIs and the portal, there’s going to be probably hundreds of players yearly switching to somewhere else because they got a better offer, loyalty to school, coach or money currently making off current NIL with associated school be damed.
this thing is just getting started and going to make the pros player movement look like its in slow motion.
As soon as the market demands the buyouts they will happen. Right now the power is in the player. Pay me or I leave. They hold the cards.
Also, there is not a universal NIL contract. People
Could do this right now if they wanted to.
Won’t be part of retention of current players, but will happen soon for new signees, particular if top dollar is being offered.
But…if super qb is offered a million by say UT with strings attached and a no transfer clause, do you think Ohio state, lsu, bama, atm, usc, florida, Tennessee, ole miss, Nebraska, Penn state, Michigan, Clemson, Georgia, and a lot of others won’t be his next call asking for less strings? With so many buyers there will be someone willing to pay for the chance.
Miami could get a lot of money back
Definitely. But if you have the highest offer, that includes a buyout, the player might take it. A buyout would be coupled with a very high dollar amount.
The way some of the alumni groups and collectives are throwing money around, allegedly, makes me think they are gun shy on this. Pay super five star qb his money or jerk him around with clauses and maybe lose him to a rival.
