That makes no sense……when you are getting hit the way he was you are not concerned with him “getting the win”……you have damn near 20 pitchers on staff….in a slugfest you keep running through them and hoping you find a hot hand.
But when you have given up 8 earned in 3 innings nobody cares about you getting the win.
Well, I’m off. He only went out for the fourth inning. He was clearly struggling in the third and then recorded no outs in the fourth.
Malachi Lott looked rather solid in 2.0 innings but threw 30 pitches and threw 2.0 other innings all year.
Lugo and Climie lead the team with three errors apiece. At least Lugo is hitting nearly 0.400. Climie is at 0.233. Guess that’s why he sat out yesterday and part of Saturday. Carsten playing first.
I can tell you this….what he did to Climie is not cool….correct me if I’m wrong but this was the number one recruit he pulled in this year….the guy is scuffling at the plate….the numbers he put up last year suggest that he will heat up at some point.
He screwed up a pop up in foul territory….it shouldn’t happen but sometimes it does….like I said, he is already pressing at the plate….a good coach would pull him aside mid inning and talk to him….remind him how good of a ball player he is and that he has full confidence in him….shake it off and make up for it at the plate.
He is supposed to be one of your top guys, a guy that you will need to really get going if your team is going to be successful this year……to yank him mid-inning is what a sh/tty , douche coach does….I guarantee he just lost a lot of respect in the clubhouse for doing that to Climie….its the exact opposite of what should have been done.
Remember how Noble was brought down (to some extent) by a hotshot player ('s dad) complaining about how he was getting pulled for the tiniest slip ups and he really deserved to be on the field a lot more? Now i don’t know whether to learn that Vinny was right all along or that the hook was too quick on Noble.
I’m gonna go with the hook was too quick on Noble. I was always pulling for Jimmy, but a 9.53 ERA doesn’t get you unlimited opportunities. Dad seemed to think the solution was more IP were all that was needed to get the ERA down. Dad didn’t want to face reality.
I agree and thought so at the time, but Whitting was supposed to be a No Raegerts replacement coach. While I get the case about him now, I couldn’t help noticing the parallel. Much like a large company getting devalued when it acquires another large company, i always worry that the UH track record of firing and hiring coaches in many sports is dismal, and probably less clever than we give ourselves credit for.
