Stanford isn’t joining the B1G.
If Notre Dame demands it, then yes they will
They won’t.
Contrary to what you may believe, ND doesn’t care that much about Stanford, and doesn’t base its decisions on them.
They aren’t nearly the rival or ally that you make them out to be.
Again, fraternities don’t give bids to a cool guy’s dorky friend in the hopes of pledging the cool guy.
In this case, ND is the cool guy, ans Stanford the dorky friend.
Coming from the same poster that told us the big10 did not want Oregon and Washington…
Well technically the Big Ten didn’t want Washington or Oregon, which is why they’re both making less than Big 12 schools right now
Where are they today? That’s all it matters.
Hey I’m just telling you that they didn’t necessarily want those schools so badly
I don’t think they want Stanford very much either, but Stanford provides another pacific travel partner and gets big brand schools in the SF market
They didn’t at first, and ultimately only admitted them at partial shares.
If UW and UO couldn’t get full shares, then Stanford, a programs that couldn’t even get full shares in the ACC surely won’t get in at all.
Yes the same two schools that according to uhlaw the big10 did not want were either in the final or are ranked #1…
“They did not at first…” Has anyone heard of what a business deal is all about?
They don’t want Stanford AT ALL.
It ain’t a “not very much” thing.
The B1G got the four largest brands on the West Coast, two at partial shares.
THAT’S what they want, and they have it.
They don’t want anything else in that region.
They don’t want Stanford.
Nor did the Big 12.
Even the ACC didn’t want them except at 1/4 shares.
The B1G surely won’t want them at all.
The reason Stanford didn’t get full shares in the ACC isn’t the same reason OU/
UW didn’t get full shares in the Big Ten
I’m not suggesting Stanford would get full shares in the Big Ten either, but Stanford brings more value to the Big Ten than they do the ACC
It’s really just a matter of timing and landscape. When the PAC fell apart; it didn’t make any sense to add Stanford to the Big Ten at the time
You wrote the same thing for htese two schools. The 100% truth is you and I have no clues of what is going on. CASE CLOSED.
I know what’s going on
How? Do tell. Do you also know the Mega lottery numbers. Send me a P.M. and let me know. I promise to share it with you.
Texas also has a larger than all but one state so they can support more “flagship” quality level institutions.
In fact, doesn’t the Houston metro have more people than something like 30 states?
How so?
The B1G certainly doesn’t need Stanford to be the top money conference.
They already enjoy that privilege without Stanford or ND for that matter.
Their football brand isn’t big enough to add value to the B1G; they don’t even add enough to make the Big 12 interested.
And ND deciding to join the B1G is NOT going to be contingent on bringing Stanford in.
That’s the most bizarre theory I’ve ever heard.
It’s simply NOT a thing.
If that were truly a thing, then why didn’t ND and Stanford join the ACC together when ND joined for most sports, and why doesn’t ND join the ACC for football so they can be together now?
Hint: because ND does NOT base its realignment decisions on what Stanford does.
They’ve never demanded that Stanford join any conference with them, and have never proposed that Stanford be added with them anytime they have joined or changed a conference.
I don’t know why you think that is somehow destined to change.
4 reasons
- Standford is the most prestigious Academic + Athletic school in the P4 and the B1G prides itself on academics
- Stanford sits in the Bay area and the B1G DOES value Big markets and especially in recent expansion picks (Los Angeles x 2, Seattle, NY/NJ, Baltimore/DC)
- may be a package deal with Notre Dame
- Stanford has an Endowment of $36.5 BILLION! The B1G isn’t stupid- they know Stanford could run the NIL era if their alums really wanted to. Remember they just hired Andrew Luck as their GM so they are devising a plan for that reality
In addition to every point above, the SEC with Texas, Oklahoma and eventually UNC (basketball) is going to be able to negotiate the highest media deal in all of college athletics come next media negotiations. Sure, right now the Big Ten makes the most. That’s going to eventually change.
The SEC is the second best conference in regards to parity right behind the Big 12. The difference is that the SEC has better brands than the Big 12.
The Big Ten arguably has the worst parity of all athletic conferences, with Ohio State and Michigan (usually) being the 2 programs that they expect to consistently make the championship and… going forward… the CFP. Perhaps Oregon can be thrown in there now
Outside of those top 5 or so brands in the Big Ten, the conference will have to rely on markets in order to secure the best media deals, which would include the SF market.
The SEC doesn’t have to rely on markets because they exist in the most profitable football region in America. The other conferences don’t have this luxury
Because the ACC’s media deal doesn’t expire until 2036
Do you think UNC is going to pay all that money for the greatest NFL coach of all time, just to be stuck making $30 million a year for another 11 years
