Can we beat the techtards?

They will be looking to punish Smith, he will be running for his life lol

With all due respect to Smith, he was not good last night. We simply had superior talent and ran a scheme to utilize our strengths. The same type of scheme that would have moved the ball at will vs rice. Credit him for taking what the defense gave us and allowing the receivers to do what they do best but smith cost us a lot of points in the game.
An awful decision to not run then a terrible throw on the first drive. The last drive of the half was inexcusable with stupid 2nd down call by Holgy followed by mind numbing decision from smith
Several other of his decisions taking us off the field. The best throw and read of the game might have been Ale.

Ballsy truth-telling.

I agree.

Yes, i agree with every word.

I would characterize Smith performance against SHST as inconsistent. He threw a beautiful pass down the sidelines to Golden for big yardage. He led some receivers nicely. His overall accuracy is still below average and he holds the too long. Given his physical size, I am surprised he is not utilized more in short yardage situations.

He was the best he’s been this season, though. He made quicker reads, better throws and fewer big screw-ups than in very previous game.

Now, the bar isn’t high when comparing against his own previous performances, but he was certainly “good” in the context of what we’ve seen until now.

If that was bad can’t wait to see him play well.

We are going to beat Tech

From an actual matchup standpoint, their defense is going to be all in our backfield unless we attack them similar to the way we started against Sam. Do not expect to stand in the pocket and read the defense - the only thing he’ll read is the front of their jerseys in his face. We are not going to be running the ball up the middle, either. Quick passes, attack the seams in the middle, and take advantage when you get a downfield opportunity - their secondary has some holes.

On the other side, I expect our defensive front to give them trouble, and their backup QB isn’t as effective at running the ball as the guy who got hurt. But the backup QB is still pretty good and not much of a drop off from the starter in the passing game.

We absolutely have to figure out how to do something with turnovers and get points when we get inside the 30. If we do that, then we’ll be in good shape.

Dana has had problems inside the red zone since he was here with Sumlin. Not sure how he did at WVU but the OSU fans noted that as his biggest weakness with the Cowboys.

Learning that they passed on him twice raises my opinion of the 'tards by 2X’s. Yes, we can beat them (the sand-aggies). I think we will. UH 24 'tards 20.
