Yes! He will have a sterling career at UH! Go Coogs!

Louisiana has always been so important to UH in recruiting for football and basketball talents!

Recruiting should be replaced by what “what Juniors and Seniors are on your roster”.

Does it even matter if a Freshman signs?

Wow. Stirling looks like the kind of articulate young man we need . If CWF wants him , I want him .

I agree with the, “If CWF wants him, I want him” sentiment. However, how do you know how articulate this young man is, have you heard him speak?

Common Mike
.are we drowning in the off-season so badly that we have to pick on whether he really is articulate or not?

Sheesh.

I just wonder why people use that description instead of something associated with football ability. I know the coaches don’t consider that when offering a kid. Do you remember that Head and Shoulders shampoo commercial where a drop dead gorgeous girl walks by and one guys says something on the lines of “wow, she’s beautiful” but the other guy says, "but she has unsightly dandruff. Can you imagine an assistant coach talking to his head coach and saying, “I checked out this five star player and he’s the real deal.” Then the head coach says, “I’m sorry we have to pass on him, he’s inarticulate.”

Some coaches by nature, focus on the negative. I remember in the early 1980s
Nebraska Center Dave Rimington won all the lineman awards: Lombardi Award Winner, 2X Outland Trophy Winner, 2X unanimous All American. Yet some NFL scouts downgraded him because of his short arms. He ended up going in the first round to Cincinnati.

Fast forward to 2023. Recall when C.J. Stroud performed poorly on the S2, cognitive test, and because of that, was downgraded on some teams’ draft board? Thank heaven the Texans were smart of enough to ignore the results of that test.

I am generally a fan of analytics but sometimes it evolves into analyisis paralysis or it is relied on too heavily. Give me player production, attitude and strong desire to get better and I will go to war with those players.

@red80 you know why people use that term. Also it may not be so important now, but I can guarantee you back in the day, there are quite a few high school athletes in the past missed out on opportunities because they didn’t speak good.

Well, thank God this isn’t back in the day. But regardless of ethnicity, not being able to speak well is still a stumbling block for many seeking employment. I think using that term is condescending.

Correction “didn’t speak well”

This is the same nfl that will “spit” you up as quickly as it can?
Remember friends when Dexter Manley could not read and we only found out later.
The nfl could care less about the athlete. That is a given.
Mr. Stroud has shown me time and time again that he is a very bright kid. You can tell immediately by his demeanor. The Texans are very, very, very lucky to have him.

How much less could they care?

Gotta say that third “very” might have been overboard.

The Texans lucked out with Stroud considering management wanted Bryce Young.

Many fans were upset that the Texans won the last game of the season to fall to the #2 in the draft. Lovie Smith was reviled by the fans and media for winning the game, but turned out well for the team.

In the words of Mick Jagger

“You can’t always get what you want,
But if you try sometime you’ll find
You get what you need.”

I was one who was thrilled they did not get the first pick. Based on track record, was pretty sure they would pick the wrong guy. Worked out perfectly!
