SMU and Memphis are practically screwed indefinitely. There most likely won’t be another round of realignment until the ACC gets picked off by the B1G and/or SEC. Even then, Memphis and SMU are still going to be screwed same with Stanford, Cal, Wazzu and Oregon St.

I agree Darth.
I think that things have changed so much that the days of playing a football game against Vanderbilt, Stanford, Rice, is viewed as your players have the same high academic standards as those teams.
Football at Vanderbilt, Stanford, etc. has to place the same emphasis on their football programs to compete.
In reverse the football focused universities have to put the effort into higher academics if they want to have a conference title and AAU certification.
