Anybody using BlueSky?

Well that’s the way it starts. Keep up the good work.

You are right. I’m tired of driving through the Galleria and having people yell, “Go back to Shoney’s!”

That was you I was yelling at?

Wasn’t me, I always refer your kind back to the Hot Biscuit.

Bluesky keeps rolling. It now has more users than Threads, although less usage still. I imagine the usage is due to Threads connection to Facebook.

Didn’t think I’d see something like this. But know I can legitimately see a possibility of it overtaking Twitter. IMHO it would be nice as Twitter has always been a cesspool, even before Musk bought it.

Truth Social has some great features too including in depth sports coverage.

LOL…I thought those words were on the band list.

Kind of amazing that Bluesky’s numbers, in such a short time, are already well above Truth Social though.

One other note…days like today, when you have big news like UH landing the latest 5*, really lets you know how far behind Bluesky is from Twitter. There’s some stuff out there on Bsky but the real noise is still on X. Will be interesting to watch going forward still.

It would take a lot to takeover twitter. It’s been around a long time and has a lot of users.

I’m guessing it would take some time to get enough users to do so. And I’m not sure anyone would be allowed to lose as much money as twitter did to get where it is when there is already a power in that space. Blue sky and truth social are both basically copying twitter.

The real test for Bsky will be monetizing the platform. The only thing TS has done in that regard was go public. They’re still losing 16-20 Million a quarter while only generating 1 million of total revenue in the same time period.

I think the bigger challenge will be continuing to acquire users. They’ve had a nice start but that stream won’t last. It’s going to get expensive.

The market let twitter pile up losses, not sure they will let someone else do that when they are doing the same thing someone else is doing.

It’s going to be an uphill climb, imo.

Any app is gonna burn through a lot of money before it can make money. We’ll see if Bluesky is any good at monetizing the site without advertising. I don’t think it can.

Yep. I just don’t think the market is going to let an app basically copying another one do that. They will let you do that if you’re doing something new and will have first mover advantage. But not if you’re doing the same thing.

Blue sky will have to do it differently.

Making money, as usual, is key.

Something X, twitter , TS, and Threads(?) have not been able to do. Seems like a tough nut to crack for Bluesky. Musk continues to fail at it spectacularly.

I thought I saw where they only have about 20 employees. They won’t burn near the amount of cash per qtr as TS.

Been a minute since a social app came on this strong. We’ll see though how it goes in the long run.
