People can give their “hot takes” all they want.

But you don’t crap on a 17-18 year old kid to do it.

Looks like i missed the hot take as it’s now flagged

Yes what was said…?

Just bad mouthing Clark for no apparent reason or real basis in anything. Apparently Clark took time away from basketball, recruiting, and school to personally go pee on the guy’s Cheerios this morning.

Hes not bad mouthing him. He said he wasnt sharp.

When have you seen a recruit ask “why are they recruiting me?”

You should know why.

@CMCoog17 the quote is kinda weird tbh.

Hes been our campus alot. Clark should know exactly how the staff feels about him

But, not smart is a harsh take. But ive had some bad takes myself

Thats a bit out of context. He was asking more “How are they recruiting me?” Like how do they see me in their system. It was an analysis of acknowledging the mutual interest and seeing if there was more to it than initial attraction. What do they see in me and is that how I want to be seen?

Its all in a screenshot that 1992 posted

That’s how I took it, that he’s unsure of how he fits in the system.

The only reason to take it differently is to advance some kind of agenda. Or maybe he just had a bad day, but regardless - the take was way more stupid than the recruit.

The kid is saying he wants to know how they envision him progressing both within the system and with respect to his future prospects. He wants to understand where they see him in year 1, 2, etc.

I think to add context, Clark sees himself as a PF and UH sees him as C. From that perspective, Clark wants to know why UH is pursuing someone who wants to be PF as C. It is up to the coaching staff to explain their vision.

Stating a recruit “is not sharp” is personal and not appropriate for a public board.

It’s funny I came back to my post and it was blocked lol.

Just because i gave an opinion that was negative doesn’t mean its inappriopriate. Not every opinion is going to be positive.

Clark is fine, but definitely prefer Peat or Cenac.

Cenac at 5, Harwell at the 2, and Flemings at 1 would be a top tier class

Even if he aint the smartest tool around you shouldn’t sh+t on a kid. Be creative so you wont get flagged!!!

I’m sure we weren’t as articulate at 17 as we would have hoped, but I don’t think John Clark is the same recruiting prospect as Chris Cenac or Koa Peat. I think we get either Cenac or Peat, and still probably get Clark(or Stagg). It seems like Cenac/Peat would be first year starters and one and done lottery draft picks, while John Clark would be more of a JoJo Tugler type freshman where he’s the first off the bench, but also probably going to stay 2-3 years to develop more.

It also sounds like it is a similar situation with Shelton Henderson/Isiah Harwell where they are both in competition for a Freshman starting spot, but if we get one we probably don’t get the other. It is exciting that we have so many lures in the water, and should be able to fill a lot of holes after a lot of players lose eligibility after this year.

My biggest hope is that we are able to get Kingston Flemings to commit and hang around at least 2 years. Getting 3 Top 25 recruits in 3 important roles would be amazing.

Thank you for your input on Clark. Not all of us were offended.

Lol I’ll take a freshman who contributes like Jojo Tugler’s freshmen year every time. And there are a lot on here that are underrating John Clark. He’s got big upside. He’s a big time player

Jojo was great, if he stayed healthy we probably make it to the final 4 even with Jamal’s injury. Comparing Clark to Jojo is not a slight. Cenac/Peat sound like Jarace Walker types. Imagine if we got 2 of those Bigs replenishing our team next year.

I do not mean any disrespect to any of those players, because they all have a role in CKS’s Program.

You did more than just that and you know it….

At this point I wish the post was still there so you and the couple of people that somehow think it was okay can defend it….

I’m not going to try and paraphrase it because I won’t do it justice.

But when a kid is being recruited, especially when the kid is on his official visit for cripes sake.

You took what the kid said out of context, then said he wasn’t intelligent and said he would just be another Powell or some nonsense….

Bad mouthing a high school kid is never okay….the people defending you are equally dumb.

It wasn’t even “input”……just a needless dig on the kid….

And….

Nobody cares if you were offended genius….its about the kid and his family having to read stupid crap about their kid.

Yeah if his point was, “I’m a lot higher on Peat and Cenac as our primary targets, and would rather have them.” I don’t think anyone would disagree

But he decided to show his arse and call the kid a dummy. Which is just a d-bag thing to do.

You are correct. Problem is now that we are recruiting at this level, there will be trolls on the board hoping to convince a kid’s parents or the kid to change his decision because of a stupid post on a message board.
