Ellis is not in the same league as the rest on that list and plenty more.
I hate to be cynical, but I am not going to get too excited about this season. Fact is, I have seen a lot of CKS teams over the years and for the most part the ending is always the same: (i) great defense, great regular season, and (ii) then flame out in the tourney due to short rotations and offensive limitations. It has happened everywhere he has coached.
I would love to be proven wrong; in fact I am praying for it, but sadly I just donât believe it. With that said, I think we win 20 plus games and finish in the top 5 in the Big 12, and get in the tourney as a 3rd through 8th seed.
I am plenty excited about this team and what they accomplished despite supposedly flaming out in the tournament. I consider anything past the first weekend a tournament run
âFlame outâ hahahahahah
this is an expectations problem. Even if we were Duke or UNC you shouldnt expect to win the tourney every year
I agree, awesome coach but just not enough offensive power ie big man lol to get the Natty, multiple final 4âa in his career but no Natty, and it ainât happening this year either, he only has a few years left I doubt itâs going to happen for him
I love the basketball board
Bruh⊠being a perennial Top 10/Top 5 program that flames out in * checks notes * the Sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final Four rounds of the NCAA Tournament doesnât get you âexcitedâ? My guy, this program didnât toil in the wilderness for 3 decades plus and climb itâs way back to national relevancy for any of us fans to be so blasĂ© about the results we gotten the past 5/6 years. Especially when there are programs like Nebraska that donât have a single NCAA tournament win in their entire program history. Letâs get some perspective here. Being an elite program that more often than not puts teams in position to win championships year in and year out is the goal. We are there.
We get to expect great basketball every game of the year.
We get to expect to reach the Sweet 16 every year.
Thatâs as far as Iâm willing to expect. And I love having both of those expectations instead of what I have been watching the past ~30 years. Its a blessing.
Couldnât help notice Tugler hitting all three of his mid range shots during the Sampson interview. Iâm beginning to think heâll turn some heads this year.
On the other hand, I also noticed TA continuing to come up short with his shots. Very similar to what I saw from his games in Australia. I really hope this changes.
Thank goodness we have a backup in Ramon Walker. I know he disappointed last year but you never know when things will start to click with a player. The effort on defense with this kid has always been there, despite some mental lapses.
Would rather flame out, over not be able to start the fire which we witnessed for many, many years.
âcynicalâ ânot get excitedâ you are essentially saying you are punishing UH for being successfulâŠ
most programs would give anything to be where ours is⊠There are 380 programs only 1 wins a national title every year, we are drunk off our success if finishing #12 out of 380 isnt exciting
iâll be the 1st to note roster flaws in respect to title contentionâŠbut blowing out texas, share of the big 12 title, lj goes for 40 in a game, we make it to the Sweet 16 would be exciting and an amazing ride even without a title
@nwcougar in that video of the Forwards shooting. Arceneaux made two corner 3s.
Are you thinking Jwan Roberts? His shots were coming up short in the video
Thatâs the beauty of NCAA basketball every team in the top 20 thinks they have a shot and then flames out in the tourney except for 1.
Roberts was missing and will not likely be taking many, if any, game threes.
Is this satire? One bad tournament out 5 means weâre bigger tournament chokers than Purdue and the Vols have been recently apparently
Ok, so did we win the title or not? Thanks for agreeing with me.
I did not say CKS sucks as a coach; however you just posted that we made 1 F4, plus S16âs and E8âs. Exactly my point. CKS has only been able to take teams so far in the tourney no matter where he has coached. I am not calling for him to be fired or anything, but in my view we should not expect that somehow, in a more difficult conference, that all of a sudden, CKS is going to change how he does things. It would be nice if he did, but he himself said he is too old to change now.
So it is what it is.
Sometimes it might feel good to stay away from being argumentative
Well thereâs also a different perspective on being in a tougher conference. Theyâll be facing WAY tougher competition and thereâs not any weak sisters so theyâll be tested WAY more. They better bring it every night or theyâll be ran out of the gym.
This is how a team gets better. Facing stronger competition. Also facing strong teams that have different styles (fast paced, slow it down, teams that like to press, teams that like to go man to man or play a zone etc). Point being seeing WAY stronger teams that ultimately will get them ready for the tournament. Yes there will be more losses but theyâll be a WAY better team having faced the caliber of teams theyâre about to play.
How do you get better? Go against better players and teams.
