2023-24 Houston Cougars Basketball Season

:joy:

2023 AAC 2nd team, 2023 AAC most improved player
Mr Coog looks pretty foolish
For his career Jwan is shooting above 60%
And averaged 8 rebounds a game last year and 10 points.

Okay
 Nap time has arrived, Grandpa!

Another juvenile post as always. Progs wants to grow up and be a MR

Oh so its personal. How convenient lol.

I think you guys are overreacting. In my mind if J’wan can do the condition training then he can work on his shot at the very least. If he can sprint he can shoot some spot up jumpers. He just has to be careful to not reinjure himself.

And I do agree with @RWcoog that in practice maybe this allows one of the freshman to step up and improve their confidence this month. Confidence is key. Just look at Markelle Fultz, Ben Simmons, Jahil Okafor.

his hands is what is injured
and the development he needs is the shooting, not getting in shape

You reputation of being a total moron precedes you.
Cannot wait to hear what your definition of “proven” means.

I assumed that he was alluding to a different injury besides his hand because he said he expects to be fine by fall. A finger injury will 100% be fine by fall. If he broke his finger normally it will take 3 weeks to recover. If it was worse and he had to get surgery it will take about 6 weeks to recover.

But he was rumored to have a groin injury back in march and I would bet if that was the case then he could still be dealing with it. That’s why I say he’s doing the conditioning with the team so his groin wouldn’t be too bad. He should just stretch it and make sure to not go too hard (which Kelvin said they don’t for a bit). I would be more concerned about that. I am not worried at all if it’s just his broken finger. He’ll be able to work on his shot in a month. He had been working on it. 3-4 weeks will not erase all his progress.

Also, the tape is on his right hand and he’s a lefty. So it shouldn’t be much of an issue when it heals because that right hand is just used to support/balance. He could also did simple single armed shots focusing on the ball feel and spin or depending on the injury he could just shoot it. When I broke my finger in my non-dominant hand I was still able to shoot with tape on.

Well now that our dream of J’Wan becoming a stretch 4 is gone I am not sure how we will survive. :joy:

The scarier thought is Progs has apparently been stalking me.

All seriousness, I hope he heals well and gets back on the court as soon as possible.

Still remember when Dream played with a splint or at least taped fingers on his shooting hands. Defenders were purposely trying to hit it after his shots and he still killed everyone.

I think you u missed my point
I’m not worried about his finger in the Fall

J’wan didn’t take a single shot all season (*technically he did throw 1 end of shot clock heave once, but that’s besides the point)

J’wan will be at the 4 next year and paired with Francis who doesn’t shoot at all
we are going to need him to shoot some to spread the flow.
Going from no shooting at all to being a semi-regular shooter in 1 offseason, will require a ton of regular shooting in that offseason

Was noting the impact on his development not his readiness for fall

yes it’s a pretty big jump especially after multiple years in the program. But because it’s his right hand that has the broken finger it might not mess with his development at all.

J’wan isn’t Dream!!

J’wan doesn’t look worried

I wonder how that will affect his shot from the chairs off the floor.

I just hope this injury doesn’t derail Jwan like Chaneys hand injury did a few years ago.

That’s your response after calling RW a “bald fool”. You have Zero self awareness

Chaney’s injury was different
He couldn’t bend his hand into a fist. He had an issue with a joint and tendon. A simple fracture will cause no further issues once healed. The only thing that may linger is confidence with rebounding and catching the ball because the finger will be fully healed but not fully strengthened until 6 weeks.

The good news is Roberts broke his finger in June. He has plenty of time to recover. I’m not worried about him being ready for the season. If worst comes to worst, we have some young guns that are just itching to get on the court.
