This is another game to gauge the progress the team is making. They looked good in their last game and have been showing sparks of putting it together as the freshmen start to get more comfortable. Hopefully, they can continue their good play.

SCOUTING THE (OTHER) COUGARS
College of Charleston enters Sunday’s contest with a 2-4 overall record, but a 2-1 mark away from their home arena. The Cougars most recently fell 60-47 at home against North Florida.

College of Charleston is led offensively by senior guard Breanna Bolden who averages 15.8 points per contest, while junior Tanisha Brown scores 13.3 per game.

On the glass for the Cougars, Brown averages 9.3 rebounds per game, while Bolden pulls down 7.7 of her own.

As a team, the Cougars are averaging 60.7 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 68.3. On the glass, College of Charleston pulls down 41.5 rebounds per game, while being outrebounded by 2.3 at 43.8 for their opponents.

Another double-digit win and we may be seeing the sparks of a good team coming together. The freshmen definitely look more confident out there. Hopefully this continues as the competition ramps up.

NEWS AND NOTES

Houston set a new team-high with 20 assists in the contest. The previous best was 17 against Southeastern Louisiana in the season opener on Nov. 13.
Houston turned the ball over just 14 times in the game, which stands as a season low. The previous low was at UNLV on Nov. 15, when Houston turned the ball over 17 times.
For the sixth time this season, the Cougars won on bench points, this time with a decided advantage at 30-7.
While her 10 points was a season-high, Graves also pulled down a career-best five rebounds.
Houston shot a season-best 45.8 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars also set a season-best with nine made 3-point field goals.

UP NEXT FOR THE COUGARS
Houston heads back on the road for their first of two matchups against Power 5 Conference teams when they meet Texas Tech in Lubbock. Tipoff against the Red Raiders on Wednesday, Dec. 7 is scheduled for 11 a.m.

“We’ve been waiting on Jasmyne (Harris), she has shown flashes in practice, and we’ve been waiting on it like crazy,” said Houston head coach Ronald Hughey after the game. "The thing that surprised me with her before today is Jasmyne was shooting 12 percent from three. It’s all been because she’s rushing. She’s rushing and taking the shots she’s not supposed to take.
